Representative Cases

Rodriguez v. City of New York

Obtained a $1.4 million settlement on behalf of a transgender woman who was sexually assaulted twice in five days after being housed unlawfully in a male facility on Rikers Island.  This is among the largest settlements of any claim brought by an individual in New York State for sexual assault while in custody.

Daystar v. Vimeo, Inc. et al.

Represents online video hosting and sharing platform in dispute arising from its removal of misleading anti-vaccine videos.

Johnson v. City of New York

Represents pretrial detainee who was wrongfully denied basic medical care and diagnostic testing by doctors on Rikers Island, which caused him permanent neurological damage and other serious injuries.

Estate of Kurt Doerbecker v. Nassau County

Successfully represented estate and family of 23-year-old man who was fatally shot in the back of the head by a Nassau County police officer in a federal civil rights and wrongful death suit.

Tucker v. City of New York

Successfully represented client who was unfairly targeted because of his race and unlawfully arrested while speaking with a friend on the sidewalk.

Cui v. Yes Car Service, Inc.

Represented nine former drivers of livery car service in action seeking compensation for unpaid overtime and minimum wages and for other violations of the New York Labor Law.

Gedna v. Millennium Realty NYC

Obtained settlement for prospective tenant unlawfully denied the opportunity to view an apartment because she received federal housing assistance.

K.D. v. BGC Financial, L.P.

Secured $500,000 judgment for client in sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit against financial services company.

Obtained reversal of murder conviction in the Appellate Division, Fourth Department.

Billups v. State of Alabama

Obtained reversal of conviction for capital murder at the Alabama Supreme Court based on challenge to the trial court’s flawed jury instructions.

Tillman v. State of Alabama

Obtained reversal of convictions for intentional murder and possession of a forged instrument at the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals on the ground that the trial court improperly consolidated separate indictments for trial.
